Toilet Paper Roll Bowling

Wondering what to do with all those empty toilet paper rolls? We’ve got a great idea!

Prior to playing this game, spend some fun family time decorating your empty toilet paper rolls. Pick a theme and have family members create characters based on that theme. Animals, monsters, superheroes ... use your imagination!

Physical literacy skills in action

  • Rolling a ball towards a target

How to play

  1. Using the decorated toilet paper rolls as "bowling pins," place the pins at one end of a lane.
  2. Draw a "rolling line" using tape.
  3. Play with a small soft ball and take turns bowling with family members.
  4. Each player is allowed two attempts (at a time) to knock down the pins.
  5. The player then counts the number of pins he/she has knocked down and "resets" the pins to zero for the next player.
  6. Players receive 1 point for each pin knocked down.
  7. Play for 10 rounds.
  8. At the end of the 10 rounds, the player with the most points can choose the next family game.

Add these variations

  • Practice rolling the ball with both your right and left hands. For example, play the first game with your right hand then switch to all players playing with their left hand for the second game.
  • For a greater challenge, move the “rolling line” further away from the bowling pins.
