The Champions for Life Foundation is a Canadian charity that empowers children ages 4 to 12 to develop their physical literacy. We offer turnkey physical literacy programs, resources, and expert technical assistance to schools, especially for those in vulnerable or under-resourced areas.   • Coordinator of a preschool physical activity program for Nunavik schools (position based in Montreal)

    Little Champions in Nunavik

    At the Champions for Life Foundation, we give children the means to move well and develop the fundamental movement skills they need to be active for life.


    The ‘Little Champions in Nunavik’ project aims to work with communities in Nunavik to create and provide resources for children aged 4 to 8 in schools and communities, fostering a sense of belonging while promoting physical literacy.


    The main aim is to create a solid foundation for children to develop an interest for physical activity and the skills they need to participate in physical activities. The program is part of a drive to reduce the lack of physical activity and promote a healthy, active lifestyle. The project is part of an educational and inclusive framework that focuses on the Aboriginal culture of Nunavik in Inuktitut, French and English.


    Job Description (based in Montreal)

    Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Coordinator will be responsible for the co-creation, management, coordination and implementation of the Little Champions program in the 14 communities of Nunavik, in addition to supporting the Director of Operations in her daily operational tasks. The position is a one-year contract, 35 hours/week, with the possibility of renewal.


    Main Responsibilities


    Development of interactive and educational stories:

    • Collaborate with the Champions for Life team and local communities to develop entertaining and educational stories adapted to the cultural realities of Nunavik.
    • Ensure that each story is inclusive and incorporates motor skills that promote children's motor development.

    Communication and partnerships:

    • Ensure fluid communication between the various stakeholders (teachers, practitioners, local communities and external partners).
    • Develop and maintain partnerships with local sport, physical activity and education organisations to support the sustainability of the project.
    • Distribute the stories and teaching resources in several languages (Inuktitut, French, English) to ensure that they are accessible to all children.

    Support for teachers and facilitators:

    • Organize training and workshops for teachers and support workers to provide them with the tools they need to integrate physical activity into their daily program.
    • Provide ongoing support to meet pedagogical and logistical needs.

    Project management support:

    • Participate in the administrative management of the project, including report preparation and budget management in collaboration with the management team.
    • Set up monitoring mechanisms to evaluate the impact of the program on children, teachers and communities.

    Requirements and Qualifications

    • Degree in kinesiology, physical activity, education or related field.
    • Experience in managing community projects, preferably in schools or related to physical activity.
    • Experience in creating or adapting educational materials, including online teaching resources.
    • Ability to work independently and manage several priorities simultaneously.
    • Fluency in French and English.
    • Knowledge of Inuit communities is an asset.
    • Criminal record check.

    • Sensitivity to the social and cultural issues facing Nunavik communities.
    • Initiative and the ability to work proactively.
    • Creativity and writing skills.
    • Skills in working with children in a physical activity setting.

  • After-School Program Animator

    The Champions for Life Foundation (CFLF) seeks motivated and caring individuals to deliver the physical literacy after-school program. The program's goal is to help children learn to move in ways that will encourage them to be physically active for life. 


    Description

    The Champions for Life Foundation is seeking After-School Program Animators to teach Fundamental Movement Skills (run, jump, hop, throw, catch etc.) to children ages 4-8 through engaging activities and games. Our program is offered to children who attend after-school extended daycare.


    Start: Exact date TBD

    Duration: 20 weeks.

    Frequency: (2) x 30-minute sessions, once a week.

    When: After school, during daycare.

    Pay: $35-$40.00 per hour

    Expected hours: 1 – 6 hrs. per week

    Schedule: TBD - Monday to Friday

    Work Location: TBD - We have partner schools located across the province of QC.


    Tasks & Responsibilities

    • Lead two groups of children, once a week after school.
    • Complete the online Leader Certification program.
    • Follow the CFLF program session plans.
    • Maintain ongoing communication with school personnel and the CFLF program director.
    • Work in collaboration with the daycare educator.

    Requirements

    • Experience working with children in physical activity settings.
    • Police background verification.
    • Be available for a training session (compulsory). Training will be remunerated.

Volunteer Your Time


We rely on the support of our many generous volunteers. If you have a few free hours that you can dedicate to others, or a skill that can be shared, we will be happy to channel it in the right direction.

Available Positions:

  • Social Media Specialist

    The Champions for Life Foundation (CFLF) is looking for a volunteer social media specialist who cares about helping kids become more active and is eager to join our remote team. Whether you're familiar with physical literacy, your dedication matters most to us.


    This position requires an estimated workload of 2 to 4 hours per week and a minimum 6-month commitment.


    Description

    The Social Media Specialist works with the Digital Marketing team to create/manage our public-facing profiles and implement a social media strategy.


    What to Expect

    1. Planning and coordinating social media.
    2. Social media calendar – creating and posting regularly – considering special calendar days, seasonal issues, CFLF events, profiling of timely causes/issues, sharing posts of relevant  physical literacy content.
    3. Ensuring the public-facing profile and messaging on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube reflect and consistent with CFLF brand and key message.

    Developing Content

    1. Collaborate with the Education team and Fundraising team seeking ideas and specific materials to be developed to use across all social media platforms.
    2. Interface with Graphic designers to advise/create materials needed for promotion of events on social media. 
    3. Maintain photo and video storage and organization of it for use by all.

    The Champions for Life Foundation (CFLF) is seeking experienced individuals with a personal commitment to our vision and mission to fill vacancies on our volunteer Board of Directors. 


    We are a Canadian charity that empowers children ages 4 to 12 to develop their physical literacy. We offer turnkey physical literacy programs, resources, and expert technical assistance to schools, especially those in vulnerable or under-resourced areas. 


    Description

    Are you growth-oriented, strategic thinker with a passion for helping more kids be active? We are looking for Board Directors who would like to make a difference in the lives of children.

     

    As a member of the Board of Directors, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the growth and sustainability of our charity, making a profound impact on the lives of children, our schools, our volunteers and our many partners. 


    Role: Director  

    Commitment: 24 month term

    Compensation: Volunteer  

    Time Commitment: approximately 2 to 5 hours per month.


    Tasks Include (But are not limited to...)

    • Preparing for and attending monthly Board meetings.
    • Collaborating with board members and operational teams to develop policies, procedures and programs focused on the health of the organization. 
    • Exploring opportunities that support the organization’s strategic goals. 
    • Chairing or participating in various committee opportunities.
    • Supporting operational activities by approving and signing documentation and performing other tasks as needed.

    Requirements

    • Professional education and/or experience in HR, fundraising, accounting, legal, marketing, program development.
    • Volunteer management experience is an asset.
    • Previous experience as a Board Member is an asset.
