In today’s academic environment, where high-stakes testing and rigorous curricula dominate the school day, recess is often perceived as a luxury rather than a necessity. Yet, research consistently highlights that quality recess is crucial in improving classroom behaviour, fostering social development, and enhancing cognitive performance.

The Champions for Life Foundation calls on Canadians to get moving for a vital cause this November. The second annual #MoveForACause challenge runs from November 1 to 30, 2024, and aims to raise $75,000 to bring physical literacy programs to over 1,500 children in vulnerable and under-resourced communities across Canada.

We're thrilled to announce that PHE Canada has officially endorsed the Champions for Life Physical Literacy Program and our comprehensive Physical Literacy Resources for PE teachers. Following an extensive review and evaluation by subject matter experts, PHE Canada has endorsed two of our core offerings for their effectiveness in supporting physical activity and the development of physical literacy in elementary-aged students:

Champions for Life Foundation and Recess Guardians are excited to announce their strategic partnership to empower future leaders in Canadian schools. The collaboration will introduce a groundbreaking program called Recess Champions, designed to equip children and youth in grades 4, 5 & 6 with the leadership skills to deliver impactful physical literacy experiences to their younger peers within their schools and communities.
