How to play:
- Divide children into teams of 3 or 4 and have teams spread out around the perimeter of the activity space.
- Explain to the children that the goal of the game is to build a snow fort using the equipment in the center of the activity space.
- Explain that on your start signal, children are to take turns (one child per team at a time) and run to the pile of equipment, pick up one piece of equipment and return it to their team.
- Once they return to their team the next child in line runs to get another piece of equipment.
- After a set amount of time or when each child has had 2-3 turns to pick up equipment, signal to teams that it is time to stop picking up items and time to start creating their snow forts.
- After a set amount of time, have children walk around and look at all the different snow forts that have been created.
- Children return all items to the centre of the activity space when finished.
Variations:
- Play outside in the snow!
- Repeat activity using a different locomotion movements to pick up equipment (e.g. galloping, skipping, hopping).
