Montreal Canadiens Defenceman Mike Matheson to Visit St. Gabriel School

Montreal Canadiens defenceman Mike Matheson will visit St. Gabriel Elementary School in Pointe St. Charles (600, rue Dublin) on Monday, April 17 (10 a.m.) to talk to students. He will do so as an ambassador of the Champions for Life Foundation, which empowers children to move well and build the skills, confidence, and motivation to be active for a lifetime!

The Champions for Life Foundation and the English Montreal School Board will host Montreal Canadiens defenceman Mike Matheson at St. Gabriel Elementary School in Pointe St. Charles on Monday, April 17 at 10 a.m.

Mr. Matheson, born and raised in Montreal and joined the Canadiens this season via trade from Pittsburgh, will begin with an activity for Kindergarten students at 10 am. He will read a Little Champions interACTIVE story to provide meaningful movement experiences so that children
build their physical literacy through storytelling. This will be followed by time with the Grades 1 to 6  students in the gymnasium to talk about what it means to be a “Champion for Life” and other topics, such as growing up and having a family.

The Champions for Life Program has been running at St. Gabriel Elementary School since 2016, thanks to the generous support of the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation.

Among the special guests will be KAIZEN, the Champions for Life mascot, and EMSB representatives.
