Director of Fundraising Position


Location: Hybrid - Montreal

Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 per year (based on experience)


Position Summary:

The Champions for Life Foundation is seeking a strategic and mission-driven Director of Fundraising to lead our development efforts - cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding current donors while opening doors to new corporate, individual, and foundation supporters. 

The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of 5+ years in fundraising, a passion for our mission, and a results-driven approach in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.

Working directly with our Executive Director, you’ll join a dedicated team that’s already making a meaningful difference - and help shape the future of a growing organization positioned to lead the way in children’s health and well-being across Canada. 


Key Responsibilities:


Fundraising Strategy & Execution

  • Lead the development and execution of a dynamic fundraising strategy for the $3M Future Champions campaign.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to identify fundraising priorities, set goals, and track progress.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward current donors while identifying new opportunities with individual, corporate, and foundation supporters.
  • Secure major multi-year commitments to ensure the sustainability and continued growth of the Foundation’s work.


Campaign Leadership:

  • Lead efforts to secure funding for the $3 million campaign to sustain and scale physical literacy programs, with a focus on expanding reach to 1,500 schools and 150,000 children by 2027.
  • Develop and implement strategies to build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with current and potential donors and secure new multi-year commitments.
  • Oversee all aspects of donor stewardship, identifying opportunities for donor recognition and involvement, keeping them engaged with the Foundation’s mission and goals.


Grant Writing & Reporting:

  • Research and identify new grant opportunities, tailoring proposals to the needs and priorities of potential funders.
  • Write compelling grant applications and reports that communicate the impact of physical literacy programs on children’s health and development.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to funders on the use and outcomes of their contributions.


Team Collaboration & Internal Alignment

  • Collaborate with the ED, Board and other members of the Leadership Team to ensure alignment between fundraising goals and the broader organizational strategy.
  • Work closely with the team to integrate fundraising efforts with communications, awareness initiatives, and event planning to maximize impact.
  • Manage the fundraising budget, donor database, track progress, and provide transparent, detailed reports on outcomes.


Outreach & Community Engagement

  • Represent the Foundation at key events, conferences, and networking opportunities to expand visibility, raise awareness, and attract new partnerships.
  • Engage with schools, community organizations, and businesses to broaden the Foundation’s reach and amplify its impact.
  • Partner with the marketing team to develop compelling materials that communicate the Foundation’s mission and emphasize the importance of physical literacy. 


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in fundraising, with a proven track record of securing major gifts, grants, and corporate sponsorships.
  • Strong understanding of donor cultivation and stewardship strategies.
  • Demonstrated success in leading fundraising campaigns, including identifying new funding sources and achieving ambitious financial goals.
  • Knowledge or experience in the field of physical literacy, education, or children’s health is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, in English and French, with the ability to effectively engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience with donor management software and fundraising platforms.
  • Collaborative and results-oriented with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership and board members.
